Advertising Standards Canada reviews alcoholic beverage broadcast advertising to ensure compliance with the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Code for Broadcast Advertising of Alcoholic Beverages. Beer Canada and several of its members are part of the not-for-profit industry body. Alcohol in Moderation was founded in 1991 as an independent not-for-profit organization to communicate responsible drinking and to report on alcohol and health, social and policy issues. The monthly journal and online archive also reports on CSR initiatives from the beverage alcohol industry and social aspect organisations on relevant policy and campaigns. Visit the site

Barley Council of Canada works to ensure long-term profitability and sustainable growth of Canada’s barley industry. Beer Canada joined the Council in 2014 to demonstrate the brewing industry’s commitment to a successful malt barley industry. Visit the site.

Change the Conversation is a program created by the Traffic Injury Research Foundation and arrive alive DRIVE SOBER®. Since 2010, Beer Canada has invested $150,000 towards this program that changes attitudes towards drinking and driving. Visit the site.

Diabetes Canada is a national charity and the voice for millions of Canadians living with prediabetes or diabetes. In 2017, Beer Canada collaborated with registered dietitians and Diabetes Canada to create the Your Guide to Beer and Diabetes resource. Visit the site.

International Alliance for Responsible Drinking is a not for profit organization dedicated to addressing harmful drinking and promoting responsible drinking. IARD is supported by its Member Companies from all sectors of the alcohol industry - beer, wine and spirits - in their common purpose of being part of the solution to the harmful use of alcohol. IARD's Partnership Council brings together Trade Associations and Social Aspects Organizations with Companies and staff into a forum around this common purpose. Beer Canada is a member of the Partnership Council. IARD partners with public, civil society and private stakeholders to advance its mission and to support the target in the WHO NCD Global Monitoring Framework of "at least 10% relative reduction in the harmful use of alcohol" by 2025. IARD's research program adds to the body of available knowledge and the evidence used to inform policy and interventions, particularly in developing countries. Visit the site

 

Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral is a proven method to helping patients reduce alcohol-related risks. Developing SBIR tools was a key recommendation with Canada’s National Alcohol Strategy and Beer Canada provided $20,000 in financial support to the development and launching of the SBIR initiative spearheaded by the College of Family Physicians of Canada and the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse.
