Worldwide Brewing Alliance (WBA)

Beer Canada is a founding member of the WBA which has the objective of seeking general acceptance of the fact that the brewing sector is a responsible stakeholder and the actions taken by it are credible. The WBA facilitates the sharing of knowledge and information and, where appropriate, develops best practice and information on social responsibility and product integrity issues. Members of the WBA represent the brewing sector in (alphabetically) Australia, Britain, Canada, China, Europe, Japan, Korea, Latin America, New Zealand, Russia, Ukraine and the USA (nearly 88% of the beer production worldwide).

The WBA also compiles information on responsible consumption initiatives undertaken by the world's brewers. In conjunction with Global Beer Responsibility Day on September 18 WBA has provided access to the Global Social Responsibility Initiative material, including those efforts undertaken by Beer Canada and its members. 

National Quality Assurance Committee (NQAC)

The National Quality Assurance Committee (NQAC) is a sub-committee that operates under the auspices of the Canadian Association of Liquor Jurisdictions (CALJ). Membership on the Committee is voluntary and consists of representatives from all Canadian Liquor Jurisdictions and several national trade association including Beer Canada The mandate of the Committee is to meet a minimum of once per year to share information pertaining to:

  • Canadian federal and provincial/territorial regulatory health, safety and consumer protection.
  • Emerging issues affecting the importation, distribution and sale of beverage alcohol in Canada.
  • Policies, procedures and best practices that help ensure equal/harmonized treatment of beverage alcohol amongst all jurisdictions.

Prud’homme Beer Certification®

Beer Canada is a proud supporter and partner of Prud’homme Beer Certification. This unique beer education program is quickly becoming the standard for industry beer education. Created in 2009, it offers a four-tiered certification platform that culminates in a Master Prud'homme Beer Sommelier® designation.  As the leader in global beer education, Prud’homme Beer Certification® was the first to provide qualitative beer education via e-learning.

Student Awards

Beer Canada supports student awards at each postsecondary education brewing program available in Canada. We partnered with Olds College, Niagara College and Kwantlen Polytechnic University to fund the award of financial assistance to deserving students in the Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management Diploma programs. These scholarships demonstrate our goal to raise awareness among future brewing leaders of the support available to them. 

NSF GFTC 

NSF GFTC is a global leader in food safety, training, quality and technical solutions. It offers the most up-to-date knowledge to leading companies in the food and beverage industry. Beer Canada partnered with NSF GFTC when developing its HACCP Food Safety Program and Implementation Toolkit for Canadian brewing companies.

Owens-Illinois (O-I)

Owens Illinois is one of two glass manufacturers currently authorized to produce the industry standard bottle. Beer Canada maintains a close working relationship with O-I’s leadership to continuously improve opportunities for the industry’s returnable-refillable bottle.     

Barley Council of Canada

The Barley Council of Canada works to ensure long-term profitability and sustainable growth of Canada's barley industry. Beer Canada joined the Council in 2014 to demonstrate the brewing industry's committment to a succesful malt barley industry.
